Here we see the gears operating a spiral screen that cleans the grain before it is ground. Dirt and chaff fall through the screen as it makes it's way through the spiral. At the end, a blower blows the remaining debris out the window. Over to the left, is the rotating sifter, where the flour from the second floor is brought up via an elevator and dumped into the rotating silk wrapped frames. The frames on the right are wrapped in a finer silk that lets the finest flour fall through and then as it makes it's way down the rotating drum, the coarser flour falls through where they fall down a chute to waiting barrels on the second floor.
