Picking up a package has gone from a 45-minute headache to a 45-second transaction at Rutgers-New Brunswick thanks to a new state-of-the-art package delivery system that is believed to be the first of its kind in the country.

You've Got Mail!
When a package arrives on campus, employees use a hand-held device to scan it and place it in a locker. The automated locker system then notifies a student via e-mail or text message of its arrival and location. Once there, a student swipes a Rutgers ID, signs his or her name, and the locker containing the package opens

Students picked up 35,000 packages in the first month. Lockers are located on all four campuses in New Brunswick and Piscataway. Most locations are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, or will be in the near future. Students must sign up for the free service by going here:
