The education committee has transferred 2 billion shillings from the money allocated to the laptops for schools project,to cater for teachers' allowances. This brings to 6 billion shillings the total amount of money the committee has re-allocated as it seeks to cater for the teachers' demands. The development comes even as the Kenya National Union of Teachers gave the government a 9-day ultimatum to heed to settle their pending allowances, failing which teachers will embark on a countrywide strike.
