Part 3:

Filmed by Tom Fry and Peter Granberg
Edited by Tom Fry

After meeting up with the guys at PQ, we went to eat at Rubios and Jordan showed us a spot from his part in the Bones video. We rolled up to westview highschool where from the parking lot you can already see perfect ledges that looked like they could spawn amazing lines and to our surprise, that wasn't the spot they went there to see. We went passed those ledges to a fence and from there we could see more ledges that Chris Cole and Tom Asta skated in Strange World and even Ride the Sky. And that still wasn't what they came here for. In the front of the school was a small 3-sided 4 stair that's been in sk8mafia saturday videos that Jimmy Carlin and many more pro's have skated. But to get to the spot we came there for, we had to hop a fence about twice our height which was probably the first fence i've ever hopped considering i'm terrible at it. In the back was just the most spacious, beautiful and perfect highschool campus/skate heaven i've ever seen. Ledges everywhere, benches with skate stoppers on only one side, a gap to ledge underneath their giant gazebo and so much more potential obstacles. The entire time we were there, plenty more skaters came to the back of the school just as we did and made it clear that this was a local hotspot. While Jordan was filming clips for the upcoming Powell video, Josh Hawkins and Chris Joslin were more than down to dish out some lines for me to film. Everyone was killing it. Deville met us at the spot after about an hour after going to home depot to get some bricks/cinder blocks to get creative with. At first the idea was a launch ramp to ledge but Josh suggested make a bank-to-bank and everyone started getting gnarly. Had a solid 2 hour sesh at the school and once everyone started winding down and started messing around with weird flatground tricks, a friendly cop came to kick us out. At least he opened the gate so I wouldn't have to climb anymore fences. With Jordan's outgoing attitude and the cop's fascination with the fact that we brought our own bricks, it was a pretty chill encounter. We went to grab a little snack at Von's then called it a day.

Our trip to San Diego, although encountering a few mishaps, was amazing and unforgettable. We got to meet some amazing people and the fact that we got to just hang out with pro's who I've watched and looked up to for so long is mindblowing and incomprehensible. Just wanted to say thanks again to Josh Hawkins, Jordan Hoffart, Steven Reeves, Aldrin Garcia, Deville Nunes, Chris Joslin, Terry LaRue and the rest of the Powell Peralta team for being so cool to us. It really meant a lot and this was by far the one vacation I'll never stop missing.
