This video is about an UNIDAD Workforce Development participant.
UNIDAD is a coalition of community members and community organizations that are committed to promoting community-serving development and other community-based solutions to address the conditions that cause gentrification and displacement in our communities.
The UNIDAD Workforce Development Training Program is a direct result of a Community Benefits Agreement (CBA) between The UNIDAD Coalition and real estate developer, G.H. Palmer Associates. The funding for this training program is only one of the many Benefits of the CBA that benefit South Los Angeles residents. The training is unique from other workforce training programs because it includes tools for empowerment. Workforce readiness skills are coupled with a leadership and community economic development curriculum. This approach expands the knowledge and options of the trainees to better understand their community, its assets, and the leadership opportunities that await them. As a result of the training, the graduates have gained employment, are pursuing continued educational goals and are interested in non-profit careers.
