On November 17, 2014 at the Cannon House Office Building, the National History Center presented this congressional briefing to discuss the historical perspectives of the 2014 African Ebola epidemic. Professor Randall M. Packard of Johns Hopkins University, Professor Gregg Mitman of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and Professor Julie Livingston of New York University and Rutgers University discussed the history of public health efforts in Africa and the consistent failure of these efforts. Professor Dane Kennedy, Director of the National History Center, moderated the discussion.
