Weekly Coin Picks - Week of July 11th, 2011

The first coin to be feature this week is from Type Coin Company. This is a solid AU 1877-S seated quarter. It graded AU53 by PCGS with Motto type.. the coin has light wear and some luster.

The Phoenix Gold Corporation listed this 1902-S $10 MS65 graded by ICG it has lovely Fields, Spot Free, and an Old ICG Tag!

This 1918-D 1C PCGS MS64RB was listed by Harlan J. Berk, Ltd. This coin is considerable mint red with no traces of brown but rather mellowed off of full red red. Truly nice!

Southern Coin & Precious Metals listed this The perfect 1885-CC $1 NGC MS66. This coin is a high grade GSA collector! Beautiful and blast white!

This 1953-S 50C Washington-Carver PCGS MS66 is exceptionally clean. Surfaces display a straw yellow and iridescent orange along the edges. Residing in a green-label PCGS holder. Just 5 examples have been awarded a higher grade by PCGS. This coin was listed by Pinnacle Rarities

This 1915-S $50 Pan-Pac Octagonal PCGS MS64 was listed by David Hall Rare Coins. This gorgeous example of this Pan-Pac 'Slug'. The surfaces are clean and mark-free and the luster is fresh and original. Most surviving Pan Pac slugs are in lower grades and have an miriad of problems as the coins are large, the surfaces are flat, and gold is a very soft metal. This is an absolutely beautiful example with tremendous eye appeal.

Here is a 1864 2C Large Motto PCGS MS66RD CAC Certified. The first official year of issue of this short lived series and the first coin to bear the motto "In God We Trust". This motto was influenced by Brown University; their motto was In DEO SPERAMUS or In God We Hope. This was proposed by Secretary Chase who attended Brown. A great coin with only one example finer. Lovely red coloring that enhances the superb strike. This coin was listed by Numismatic Americana Incorporated
Rare Coins of New Hampshire Inc. listed this 1831 50C AU55 PCGS. This coin is a Light grey with shades of blue & red. Nice luster!
