Last month Reason.tv highlighted the heartland pol who is waging a very real war on fake pot, but who will be this month's top nanny?

There are the New Jersey cops who wouldn't tolerate a naked snowwoman and Pennsylvania state troopers' armed crackdown on unlicensed beer.

But the Nanny of the Month goes to the Empire State politician who wants to ban salt from New York restaurants and dole out $1,000 fines to any rogue chefs who dare to sneak a sprinkle of the white stuff on their food.

Presenting Reason.tv's Nanny of the Month for March 2010: New York State Rep. Felix Ortiz!

"Nanny of the Month" is written and produced by Ted Balaker. Associate Producer is Alex Manning. Animation by Meredith Bragg.

Wait, you meant to tell that these bureaucrats are not going after for real criminals whom have committed real crimes, but instead they've waged a war on things that are not really a big deal?
You're a nut job Ortiz.... Get out of my salty life!!! Love salt! Low bp, not overweight and not a stupid lib!!!
Guns don't kill people, the government does.

@Joe402 Lol statists. Literally need the government to tell them what to do for their own well being.
@shammadamma Me Too. I despise having to wear the over shoulder belt in the back seat. I remember when I was 5 years old riding with Grandma in her 1978 Oldsmobile Delta 88 tank of a vechile and guess what it only had lap belts in the back seat. So did my mom's 1985 Oldsmobile Cutless Supreme. My dads 1980 Mercedes had the over shoulder back seat belts, I would always put it behind my back. Now Texas State Senator Kirk "The Jerk" Watson requires booster seats for everyone under 4'9. DUMB LAW
@shammadamma lol Libertarians are a joke. Literally want to increase their chance of death in the name of "liberty."
@Joe402 Yes, I seriously oppose seat-belt laws. It's none of the government's damn business whether I buckle up in my own car or not. Nobody "hates seat belts," as you suggest. Many of us simply despise being told we HAVE to wear them or else pay a fine. Ever hear of freedom of choice?
@ryguy122189 The law is necessary because Libertarians who hate seat belts exist in the world.
@ryguy122189 People not wearing seatbelts can be dangerous projectiles in a crash so seatbelt laws are needed sorry if you find that inconvenient.
@El3ctricPenguin lol you're just mad that you have to wear seatbelts
