http://pixvid.me/SpeechWheaton Undergraduate student speaker Brittany Wheaton noted at Wheelock College's Commencement Ceremony on May 13, 2011 that the graduating class has collectively given over 15,000 hours of community service.

She thanks the Wheelock faculty and staff for creating another generation of innovative thinkers and persistent advocates. She also thanks all of the families and friends of students for their support to help meet and exceed their dreams (and sign their loan papers).

She notes that the word has changed dramatically since the class of 2011 entered Wheelock College. The nation saw the inauguration of the first African American president, mourned the death of Michael Jackson, and sympathized with Haiti, Chile, and Japan throughout their geological disasters. And of course, we've endured our own wars.

Wheelock students have not only witnessed these events, but also organized and responded as frontline humanitarians. Wheelock has empowered them to challenge their norms, transcend prejudices, and shatter doubts.
