Tony Ferguson demonstrates how to throw a guinomi or tea cup off the hump. Throwing off the hump is where a pottery centers the top of hump of clay and continues working off that hump until the clay is used up. It takes practice but once you figure it out, it's fun and you are not bending so close to the wheel head. While in Korea, Tony further developed his throwing off the hump skills--but in reverse. The Onggi potters he worked with insisted he learn to throw in reverse and on the other side. Good times.
