Dr. Wessel received his medical education at Yale University and Oxford University UK. He undertook fellowships and became board certified in pediatric cardiology, cardiac anesthesia and pediatric ICU. He was Professor of Pediatrics (Anesthesia) at Harvard Medical School and Chief of the Cardiac ICU at Boston Children’s Hospital before moving to Washington DC where he is currently Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer, Hospital and Speciality Services and the Ikaria Distinguished Professor of Critical Care Medicine at Children’s National Medical Center and Professor of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine and of Pediatrics at George Washington University.
