Philip Glass discusses the origin of his Satyagraha Opera, beginning with the story of an Indian man who showed Glass old film footage of the Great Salt March and was responsible for sparking his interest in the life and works of Mahatma Gandhi. Glass continues to discuss his personal inquiries into Ghandi's life and teachings and how these led to the creation of Satyahraha Opera. Presentation at "Satyagraha: Gandhi's 'Truth Force' in the Age of Climate Change" presented by the Garrison Institute on April 13, 2008 at the Cathedral Church of Saint John the Divine in New York City.
