This the real-time view through a high-magnification microscope of a solid snowflake shape being printed using a nanoscale 3d printer. Each arm of the snowflake is 1/100th of a millimeter across and the printer has a minimum feature size of ~1/10,000th of a millimeter. The printer uses laser light to selectively harden a liquid photoresist, allowing for the creation of intricate polymer structures such as this snowflake.
