Design Jam saw architectural, planning and design students and young entrepreneurs brainstorm design ideas for parts of the Ōtākaro Avon River Corridor Regeneration Area. Supported by industry professionals and mentors, about 50 young people participated in teams to create 10 design concepts for various parts of the 600 hectares of former red zone land. Regenerate Christchurch was really impressed by the ideas, enthusiasm and energy the participants have for their city. Decisions about the future of this area will create a legacy for everyone so it is essential we involve all ages, including young people.
Design Jam was organised by the Ministry of Awesome with support from Regenerate Christchurch in June/July 2017. Regenerate Christchurch will consider the concepts from the Design Jam alongside all other ideas.
