There's more to Eastern Market than market Saturdays. This week, we're bringing you a few options beyond the farmers market. Germack Pistachio Company is now roasting its own coffee and opening up a coffee shop right on Russell Street. Next we have Savvy Chic, a vintage home goods store on Riopelle that also carries local Detroit artists' work. Next door, we got a tour around Omnicorps Detroit and spoke to Achille Bianchi about Detroit's first Hackerspace. For those uninitiated, he answers the question, "What is a hackerspace?" Curious about what else goes on in Detroit's other downtown neighborhoods? We've got our Dig Downtown 5 events. On the younger side of the news, YNN brings us an interview with Pulizer Prize winners Ari Fleischer and Eugene Robinson. Detroit's Children's Museum is also reopening for students. Lastly, we're bringing you a discussion on Detroit safety with Chief Ralph Godbee about a partnership between the US Attorney's office, Detroit Police Department, the Wayne County Prosecutor, Wayne State Police and others to reduce violent crime on the East Side.
