It is known that many times he would read from his novel to The Inklings. Imagen being their and hearing his words. Ah, if only I were there.

Tolkien is my greatest hero. Hear him in all his withering glory. He is the master and I am the learner.

This is a recording of J.R.R. Tolkien reciting the Ring Verse, from 'The Lord of the Rings: The Shadow of the Past'.

"Three rings for the Elven-kings under the sky,
Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone,
Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die,
One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.
One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie."
