Jerusalem's Mayor, Nir Barkat, met with the Co-Chair of the Republican Israel Caucus, Rep. Peter Roskam, today in Washington. They discussed the Mayor's plans for upgrading and improving the Holy City that President Obama has requested be put on hold. Mayor Barkat said the Obama administration is asking him to discriminate based on religion in its push to freeze construction in East Jerusalem.
They also discussed the status of America's relationship with the Mid East ally. "Jerusalem is an ally, not a project," said Roskam in response to recent slights by the administration against Israel.
