Musical performances by Philadelphia students highlighted the third and final day of this week's Mothers in Charge second annual Cost of Violence National Conference.

Philadelphia City Managing Director and Deputy Mayor Rich Negrin presented the opening address.

Mothers in Charge executive director Dorothy Johnson-Speight displayed the court record of the man who killed her son Khaaliq in 2001, and invited other participants to discuss next steps in the movement to stop the violence.

The choir from the Mathematics, Civics, and Science Charter School in Philadelphia concluded the conference, singing messages of hope and joy.
