0:00 Before human life first found self-consciousness on Earth and yet the order of the universe had finally started to be put into place, there existed great and powerful beings and races of which many would later be called Gods and Youkai (whether or not they accepted these terms or not). Amongst these beings were a race of sky-dwellers called Lunarians. They had managed to escape the impurity of both the sea and land, but even they too found themselves fighting other great beings.

0:32 Yagokoro Eirin (representative of intellect) and Tsukiyomi no Mikoto (representative of vitality) fought alongside their fellow race, being the greatest warriors amongst them. Wielding power greater than any Earth god's, they effectively dueled and banished those that had brought conflict to their domain back to where they came from. Yet despite their great power, it was also they that saw the result of this conflict bringing no good to Earth and thus imbalance in the sky that they dwelt within. And so...

1:06 It was decided that out of the Earth itself, a solid domain for the lunarians be made. And amongst those that created this domain was the intellect, Yagakoro Eirin, who even found court with Amataresu. And yet, "escaping" her duties of the moon, this same Yagakoro Eirin decided leave for Earth eventually.

1:12 Time passed and passed as the goddess, who created even the elixir of immortality, enjoyed life on Earth with companions and other powerful beings that befriended her in the journey to Earth. This enjoyment lasted entire eras on Earth, but alas the bliss was certainly not eternal. Life became mundane, and the sense of duty in which the goddess had built herself on was threatened by a lack of duty available to her while not even in her home domain. It truly made her question her role as a “God”

2:01 One night, she set out with the princess that had come with her from the moon, and questioned all the blood that was spilled in the past and what they were doing on Earth. It seemed truly unfortunate that all the blood that had been spilled in the past has still not been made up for, and that the world was still stained with impurity, as she has seen for thousands of years (especially amongst the fragile humans). “Am I not a great god meant to ease these pains?” It was truly frightening, however as she thought, she understood:

2:38 She is a part of the universe just as a human or a bug is. And like all of those creatures, it was her job not to necessarily need to change anything, but rather do good with what she has now and be good. That being in harmony with her surroundings will bring her in harmony with the whole universe. 3:22 Her noble duty was not anymore in the skies where arrogant gods had once fought, nor is it on a barren ball of rock that she had created as a temporary shield. No, it was with the nature that has flourished around her since her own birth. Seeing that this is something worth protecting enough to be happy with her own existence, 3:44 she found herself satisfied with her duty and purpose, for what else does a being need?

“Masterpieces were meant to be listened to multiple times" ~ My friend Cucco =3
I made a story to go with this masterpiece, as I'd imagined it.
This is where my love of Touhou originates...I have nothing more to say
I just hope you enjoy, truly :)

Notes: -The reference to the impurity of the water and then the land comes from ZUN’s Cage in Lunatic Runegate, where the old gods battled and riddled the pure Earth with sin
-Also, Tsukiyomi is referenced to have been a comrade of Eirin in that same work by ZUN. It’s theorized that she is the equivalent of the actual god, Omoikane, which represented intellect and free spirit, and who even helped get Amataresu out of “the cave” (Another Japanese myth-story)
