An illustration of how rapidly a situation can change in tidal waters, as sea kayakers paddle with the ebb tide towards North Stack on Anglesey. From calm water with perhaps a foot of swell, the tide picks up, waves increase in height and within a minute of first seeing whitecaps ahead, the group is in the middle of the North Stack tide race overfalls. All too quickly the excitement is over as they exit the race towards the gap between North Stack and Holy Island...
