Well, someone thought this was a good idea at the time. It's October 14, 1995, and the New York Islanders, four-time winners of the Stanley Cup, looking for a new identity that doesn't, y'know, carry all of that "winners" baggage with it, pack away their classic blue and orange jerseys and introduce a teal, silver, and orange jersey that plainly infringes upon the trademarks of the Gorton's Fishstick company. Proving the adage that the suit makes the man, the Isles stumble out to a 2-11-2 start wearing these duds. Today, the Fishstick jersey is a distant memory, albeit one that might haunt your nightmares. Let's hope it never returns to the ice, not even in jest...and that someone offers a "buyback" program to get these dangerous things off the streets.
