Maintaining traction is of utmost importance on cobbled climbs, especially when it's wet. Keeping an even pressure over the back wheel and not fighting with the bike will help you deliver power without the rear wheel slipping. Unless you can climb smoothly out of the saddle, it's probably best to remain seated to keep 'choppiness' to a minimum.
