Our statement against the misuse of children as soldiers. Taken from the album "reflected" (2011).
This song was written after Central Park heard the life story of a former child soldier at a UNICEF charity concert the band had played at. The Angola-born Samuel Zombo retold his experiences as a 10-year-old child soldier. This first-hand account moved not only the audience but also the members of Central Park deeply.
When I look into your face Happiness without a trace So small hands, they are misused Innocent childhood is abused
Someone giving you a wink, just act, don't think Staying in the marching row, just follow The order is so clear, no time, no place to have fear
Those obsessed with power and greed Selling the truth, sowing hatred's seed
No way out, you hear them shout We're right inside the mass, fire coming over us Nowhere to run, just hold on to your gun They want you just like this, just take it like it is
No playing, children armed with guns Helpless parents lose their sons
