This video explores how jeans fashion has changed and evolved from the 1950s onwards.
Originally designed for cowboys and miners in the late 19th century jeans proved immediately popular owing to their durability, comfort and the fact that with age every pair of jeans reflected the story of their owner.
In the 50s film stars James Dean in Rebel Without a Cause and Marlon Brando in The Wild Ones further added to the mystique of jeans. Teenagers adopted the garment as a symbol of youth culture and rebellion.
