Reiki is a great form of energy healing, but there are important aspects of healing that reiki does not address.
For one, Reiki does not assess for specific problems. It relies on intuition, which is a great tool for any energy healer, but this means you won't necessarily come away from a session knowing exactly where your symptoms are coming from or what to do for them.

And finally, another missing element with Reiki is that, unless you become certified in it yourself, you can't perform it on yourself outside of a practitioner's office.
This is important because you are missing the benefit of being able to do a certain amount of healing yourself. There are many energetic techniques that are simple enough for you to do at home so that you're getting the most healing without having to rely on visits to your practitioner.

It retrains your stress response so that your body doesn't go into fight flight or freeze mode when you encounter a stressful situation
You begin by placing your thumbs on your temples, placing your other four fingers above your eyebrows, in line with your pupils. These are your main neurovascular points. Close your eyes and take several deep breaths, in through the nose and out through the mouth, while focusing your mind on your stressful situation.
It usually takes 3-5 minutes and you may feel pulsing under your fingers when it's complete.
This is training the blood to stay in your forebrain, where rational thinking takes place, instead of rushing to your limbs, which is what happens during fight, flight or freeze.
Over time, when you encounter the same situation, your body will know how to handle it without going into its stress response. This is great for minor stresses or even PTSD.
Like all energy medicine exercises, this is very simple to perform, yet the results are very profound.
