The Arlington Northwest Morris Dancers did a performance during the last Greenbelt Farmers Market of 2010. Here is an official description of the group and the dance they did that I from a mailing list that I'm on.
The North West or clog style of Morris Dancing originated in the northwest English villages of Cheshire, Lancashire, and the far west of Yorkshire. Dancers worked in the cotton mills and other large industries of the area. Each village had its own side or team, and its own dance. North West Morris danicng is characterized by the wearing of traditional wooden-soled clogs as were worn in the mills, its robust stepping, and the use of plaited slings or wooden sticks. These would have originally been commonplace articles from the cotton mills in Northwest England, such as bobbins and shuttles.
