Today's web search engines owe a lot to one of their forerunners, a text search system developed at the University of Waterloo in a mid-1980s project to computerize the massive Oxford English Dictionary. The project also developed into a spinoff company - OpenText, today Canada's largest software company, based in Waterloo's David Johnston Research and Technology Park. Learn how it all happened.
