EVERY DAY IS A JOURNEY is a Synergistic Cinema project, an episodic narrative series told in six chapters with no predetermined arc. Each chapter is directed by six distinct Seattle filmmakers. This innovative, offbeat storytelling technique required each director and his team to use the characters and story threads introduced by the previous chapter in order to continue the narrative. Before each director could begin work on his own chapter, all of the previous chapters had already screened for audiences at the Rawstock Film Festival, which has showcased edgy short films pushing the boundaries of filmmaking for the past 10 years.
EDIAJ tells the story of small-time hustlers and yoga enthusiasts, quickly accelerating into a hilarious, operatic crime drama involving numerous kidnappings and unexpected pathos. The project features some of Seattle's rising filmmakers and actors, including a breakout performance by Nate Quiroga a.k.a. Buffalo Madonna of notorious rap group Mad Rad and acclaimed indie rock band Iska Dhaaf.
Chapter I: "The Inner Octopus" directed by Justin Freet
Chapter II: "Unrequited Love's A Bore" directed by Nik Perleros
Chapter III: "Damage Control" directed by WT Russell
Chapter IV: "Let Me Be Yr Drummer" directed by Christian Palmer
Chapter V: "The Umpire Got Back" directed by Jason Reid
Chapter VI: "Wet Work" directed by Ian Connors
SYNOPSIS: Greg Madsen (John Hildenbiddle) and Acker Kenmore (Dylan Noebels) are small-time grifters hunting for their next payday. But Acker is searching for more meaning in his life after taking a class from offbeat yoga instructor Sullivan Burkes (WT Russell), who begins teaching Acker to find his "inner Octopus" while spurning the advances of his sexy student Cinnamon (Katie Sheaffer). Greg gets caught up with Freakshow (Justin Freet) and Bisely (Nate Quiroga), a pair of hired goons sent by their reclusive boss Antonius (Andras Jones) to find a missing girl named Stella Mercuria (Stella Rose Saint Clair). As Freakshow and Bisely trace the path of Stella, we discover more about the mysterious Octopus and how these characters' lives intersect in many surprising ways.
