Have you ever seen the movies "The Goonies" or "National Treasure" and wished you could go on your own real-life treasure hunt? Do you want to maximize your positive impact on the world with your charity dollars? If you answered yes to either of those two questions, this is your opportunity to join us on our Philippines national treasure hunt for a cause.

I'm David Newby, author of "Treasure Islands: Your Guide to Buying and Safely Selling Gold & Silver in the Philippines" (www.PinoyGold.com/book) and strategic partner of CCT.org.ph/new, the Philippines' largest microfinance group, and MM2P.org, a charity that focuses on Philippines feeding, education, and housing programs for the poor. Through my Philippines relationships going back almost 30 years (details in the video above), I was referred to owners of Philippines gold that are having a hard time selling it, and you and I have the opportunity to NOW help them by buying their gold safely and legally. The best part is we are using part of our profits to empower poor Filipinos through the charities I work with at the same time! It's the ultimate win-win-win situation.

The Challenge We Are Addressing

Gold has been mined by Filipinos since before the Spanish arrived in the mid 1500s. Since then, mining has steadily increased to the point that the Philippines is the 17th largest producer of gold today. Outside of the large, savvy, multinational mining companies that mine and sell their gold internationally, the Philippines has tens of thousands of small-scale miners and treasure hunters that barely scrape by making a living panning and hunting for gold.

The sad fact is they are often cheated and underpaid for their gold because no one has taken the time to educate them about how to sell their gold for a fair price legally. Some treasure hunters have ALL of their gold stolen by underhanded buyers because they don't know the proper documents and procedures they need to sell their gold safely. Well, we're changing all that and we need your help!

We need your help to take our treasure hunt to the next level!

Phase 1- Complete) My teammates Allan, Dan, and I have already identified 10 holders of real 'treasure gold' in the Philippines through our pawn shop network (we own a pawn shop in the Philippines) and through getting publicity for my book "Treasure Islands." Further, we've already completed 3 successful test buys of gold from 3 of these gold holders. Now we're at the point where it's time to ramp up our publicity for my book and to make larger purchases of gold from sellers, and here's where you come in!

Phase 2) Now that my book "Treasure Islands" is published in the Philippines, we're ready to expand our publicity campaign for my book to educate more owners of Philippines gold how to safely sell it to us. We're also ready to pay larger deposits and buy larger amounts of gold from sellers that we are meeting.

Phase 3) I'm using 50% of my share of our profits to fund Filipino charity community development projects of CCT and MM2P.org (microfinance, feeding programs, education, and housing). For every $12 Million of gold we buy, this translates to $1 Million given to charity. Our target is to raise $100K for our venture here on Indiegogo and to use those funds to leverage those dollars to give TEN TIMES as much to empower poor Filipinos. Join us in leveraging your dollars to support worthy charities both NOW and in the near future!

Phase 4) At the end of 2013 or beginning 2014, we're making a film about our real-life Philippines National Treasure Hunt. The purpose of the film will be twofold- first, to raise awareness about the challenges small-scale miners and treasure hunters face in the Philippines, and second to inspire other business owners to more strategically use their business to serve both their customers and communities to make a MAXIMUM positive impact in the world.
