"Oh the water's gonna come down Noah... you better get in the boat!"

Jesus told us that at his return things would be going on just as they always have... we'd be doing all the usual things... going out to eat, getting married. Maybe we'll be mowing the grass, or if it happens in winter, be out Christmas shopping. He told us that in Noah's day the people knew nothing about what would happen up to the day Noah entered the Ark, and then the flood came and took them all away!

The reality that Jesus could come back at any minute struck me while I was playing my song at a store in the mall. I was testing it out to see how it sounded, when a man overheard it and started talking to me. It turns out he had been doing a lot of thinking about "the end times" and he was going to tell us all about it! And wow, as he did the Spirit of God came upon us. All of a sudden it hit me, "Jesus is going to interrupt all our plans!" It won't matter what we're doing or how important we think it is, when he comes back it's all gonna be over. Bam! In an instant! Over. He's gonna interrupt all our plans.

Talk about putting things in perspective!

And that's what my song is about... Jesus is coming back on a day just like today! The point is that none of the things that Jesus talked about were "bad" things. Going out to eat and laughing with friends, the romance and promise of marriage... this is the good stuff! Still, life is too short not to live it for eternity. The song is fun, but it's serious. What happens when Jesus comes back and interrupts all our plans? What happens when the rain begins to fall?

Noah must have looked like quite a "fanatic" building his boat. With every new plank the message was that the world's song and dance was about to be over.

Still, the world of his day scoffed it off, or maybe got out an "umbrella" just in case. But it would take more than an umbrella to escape the flood.

"So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect Him." -Matthew 24.44
