The May 9, 2009 National Train Day celebration at Tampa Union Station continues in this second video of two. A look at the station's clock tower reveals history told in its artwork. Shown are the Plant System, the Seaboard Railroad, Atlantic Coast Line, and Tampa Northern, as well as CSX. Then it's on to the Florida East Coast Railway as we find their 1954 Pullman "Florida Sunrise" car which awaits restoration at TUS. Railfans gather around Amtrak's SILVER STAR #91 as it prepares for departure with just one engine. Badly needed and overdue repairs on the station's canopy and platform are allocated in recent stimulus legistation. We take train #91 out of Tampa for a day-trip to Winter Haven and see that station inside and out. We check out nearby Lake Shipp and Harbor Side restaurant, which are both a short walk from the station, as is William G. Roe Park and Avenue X. The horn sounds the arrival of Train #92 so we board for the return trip to Tampa. We glide over rails and water and see railfans gathered at Neve Wye. The station announcer welcomes passengers to Tampa upon our return and we admire the SILVER STAR alongside Special Train #974 backing up to the downtown skyline. Northbound Train #92 pulls away and we watch it roll into Ybor City from the end of Tampa's platform. Inside Union Station, exhibits are packed up as National Train Day 2009 has drawn to a close.
