A UDP Forwarder or Flow Replicator allows a single UDP stream of, say, syslogs, NetFlow or any other type of UDP data to be transparently replicated to multiple destinations. It can also act as a syslog-to-IPFIX gateway by listening for syslogs, extracting the details and then forwarding them on inside structured IPFIX datagrams.

Since a UDP Forwarder / Flow Replicator can forward the same flows to multiple destinations, it helps companies with regulatory compliance by ensuring a backup of all system messages and notifications should an audit become necessary.
