Did you know that every year, 1 in 5 high school athletes sustains a concussion? Concussions are a growing epidemic, but here's how you can help."

Hi! I'm Dan Nicholson. Back in school and college, I loved playing sports. I never thought twice about the many concussions I received back then, but today, I deal with those repercussions every day. Repeat concussions can cause memory loss, attention difficulties and long-term brain damage.

When my own three kids became active in sports, I grew concerned. I was frustrated by the lack of concussion monitoring during games and the lack of affordable concussion detection options for kids.

We couldn't afford the expensive pro systems, and our friends couldn't either. That's why my partner, Tim Hodgkins, and I -- along with a team of concerned parents -- created the head case concussion management system.

The Head Case Concussion Management system is a three-part concussion management system designed to measure hits and help identify concussion symptoms.

The system uses the Head Case Impact Sensor, a small device inserted into a helmet to monitor and measure head impacts. The head impact sensor can be used in multiple helmets.

By reviewing the athlete's normal impact history and comparing to national averages, the head case impact sensor can detect impacts of concern and alert coaches, trainers and parents.

If an impact of concern occurs, a coach or trainer can conduct a field-side test through the free Head Case Mobile App.

If the field-side test reveals potential concussion symptoms, the athlete is taken out of the game and alerted to seek medical attention.

Failed test results are uploaded to the athlete's profile on the Head Case Website.

Athletes, parents and coaches can review data on the Head Case Website along with analysis and reporting tools.

Data can be compared to previous impact data as well as compared to team members and national averages.

The Head Case Concussion Management System is a result of months of research and development.

We need you to help us bring this affordable system to schools, teams and athletes around the country. Support our crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo at igg.me/at/head-case. Let's get a Head Case head impact sensor to every kid, in every helmet.

Our Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign rewards are fun and even offer discount pricing on our product. We hope you'll join us our Indiegogo team and pledge now.

You can help us keep kids safe from the risks of undetected concussions.
