The third annual Homelessness Awareness Discussion and Sleep-Out, produced by ten faith communities from throughout Middlesex County in conjunction with the Middlesex County Coalition on Housing and Homelessness, was held on Saturday, January 28, 2012. Young people learned about the problem of homelessness in our communities and what is being done to prevent and end it. Participants attended activities and presentations about the county's Ten Year Plan to End Homelessness and about connecting faith with homelessness. They also heard about what it is like to be homeless from people who have experienced it. Following a simple dinner of soup and bread, students set up their sleeping arrangements, which may be cardboard boxes, tents, or simply a sleeping bag on the ground at churches throughout the county to spend the night.
