The new album "India meets Europe" with hits of the Beatles and Indian ragas is now released world-wide on Amazon and iTunes.
Indian classical music meets European jazz with Deobrat Mishra, sitar & vocals, Mangala Prasad Mishra, tabla, David Laborier, guitar, Jeff Herr, drums and Damien Prud'homme, saxophone, flute & clarinet.
Deobrat Mishra from "Music of Benares" is the son and student of great Pandit Shivnath Mishra, Lecturer and Head of the Music Department at the Sanskrit University of Benares.
Deobrat Mishra was honoured as India's best sitar players award of the year 1995.
In the year 2000 he received SurMani ( Jewels of sound) award in Mumbay - India.
Mangala Prasad Mishra is the son of Pandit Kumar Lal Mishra, a known tabla artist who accompanied other famous sitar players like Pandit Ravi Shankar.
David Laborier, Jeff Herr and Damien Prud'homme are three outstanding jazz musicians known for their enormous feeling all over the European jazz scene.
The feeling and the improvisation are the leading parts as well in Indian classical music than in European jazz.
The vocal basis is characteristic of Indian classical music, the instrument music following the example of the human voice.
This meditational music lives from improvisation, nethertheless rising to a peak of excitement and tension.
Using here the voice, the sitar & the tabla, the guitar, the saxophone and the drums these 5 musicans evoke a mood of rapt attention which quickly casts its spell over the whole audience.
