Chris and his mom, Marilu, visit Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument near Silver City, New Mexico. This was built and occupied by a small community (approx. 40-45 people) of Mogollon (mo-go-YONE) Indians in the late 1200s A.D. Archaeologists estimate that they stayed here only for about one full generation, then moved on. The dwellings were abandoned by the year 1300 A.D. and were not discovered until 1878.
