Ridwan Kamil is among the biggest names in modern Indonesian architecture. As an architect with a love for green, he uses creative design such as maximizing pedestrian walkways to solve urban issues. He is famously known as the designer of Aceh's tsunami museum and Rasuna Epicentrum (Jakarta). His house was made from 30,000 used Red Bull bottles.

He talks about the importance of innovation, creativity and collaboration among the many and diverse creative communities in Indonesia. He also stresses the importance of the design of cities, where the increasing majority of mankind lives.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)
