UnlimitedCellPhonePlan.com reviews the Samsung Messager II cell phone for Cricket Wireless.

The Samsung Messager 2 is a CDMA Tri-Band phone. We will be reviewing it with unlimited talk text and web from Cricket Wireless cell phone service. It is also currently available for MetroPCS. This cell phone has a full keyboard the slides out the bottom of the phone. It is perfect for texting, e-mailing, and social networking such as Facebook, MySpace, etc. It is also a great multimedia phone. By inserting a MicroSD Card (Sold separately) you can turn this handset into a full functioned music player. We recommend adding a set of headphones or bluetooth stereo headset to fully enjoy these features as the onboard speaker isn't that excellent. You can also view certain types of video formats in both portrait and landscape positions.

The basic functionality of the Samsung Messager II is excellent. Call quality is consistently excellent and we did not experience any dropped calls throughout San Diego & Las Vegas CricketWireless service areas. The speakerphone worked excellent and was loud and clear throughout our demo phone calls on the video. And, the full keyboard is absolutely excellent for sending and replying to speedy text messages and e-mails. We recommend you turn off the "key beeps" within the settings immediately after purchasing the handset. It gets annoying really fast.

Supplemental features such as the 2.0MP camera and camcorder work great as well. We were able to picture msg some cool img's to our friends on other networks without any issues. The quality was pretty good for a 2.0MP camera. We took a small 30second video of our dog running in the dog park and it turned out reasonably well for how small the camera is. It comes with several demo games loaded on it : Are you smarter than a 5th grader, Super Street Fighter 2. This makes for some quick fun when you are bored and will likely result in you purchasing these games :)

Overall it's a great phone. Certainly one of the best available for Cricket Wireless or MetroPCS at this time. Some small negatives are the keyboard slide feels uncertain sometimes , like it might break. It hasn't broken yet after several weeks of testing but it just has that "shaky" feel. Because this is a candybar style phone it also feels kind of funny when you hold it between your neck and shoulder "hands-free". If you enjoy the unlimited talk text with no contracts that Cricket Wireless offers then you should certainly invest in this handset. It's amazing, there isn't much that this handset can't do.
