There are several reasons why the Columbia Association (CA) has developed a new logo. The most compelling reason, we believe, is that our community is in a time of change. From the Symphony Woods Park development, to the first new homes being built in Columbia in quite a few years, to the Downtown Plan and mall redevelopment...there's just a lot of new and exciting things happening in Columbia. At 45 (yes, our town is 45 this year!), a new generation is taking root and starting families, new ideas are forming, new initiatives are in the works, and we'd like to convey this new spirit.
Secondly, and for logistical reasons, we want to have a logo that has more flexibility, especially when it comes to the tight and small spaces many social media sites provide for a logo. And lastly, we needed an image we could build on into the future. Did you know the Columbia Association (CA) does not own the People Tree image? We own the People Tree sculpture but not the copyright for the image.
