Hang on to your seatbelt and enjoy a much faster than usual trip from northeastern Los Angeles county to Las Vegas Nevada... The Mojave Desert flies faster than twice the speed of sound (more than 1500 MPH) with a little help from timelapse frames shot from a Canon 300HS digital still camera mounted just behind the windshield.
This compilation of clips does not show the entire trip, but does provide some interesting sequences of road, traffic, and tons of flat desert terrain, with travel through a few mountain ranges as well.
Sorry for the focus issues in some of the clips - the camera insisted on focusing on the windshield bug guts instead of the distant horizon, which was not noticeable in the camera's LCD display while it was being shot. Also note the dust storms in some places - great for pitting windshields and sand-blasting paint jobs. Fortunately there was a strong tailwind most of the way - in both directions!
