POLICE have arrested a man they found hiding in the roof of a motel in Minchinbury, on Thursday, and charged him with a string of offences. The man, 33, was wanted by police over numerous alleged traffic offences and injuring a police officer. Police said the alleged offender was driving a car they stopped on Forrester Road, St Marys, for a random breath test on January 31. It's alleged the driver gave police a false name but the officers soon discovered he was disqualified from driving until 2022. Police allege the man then attempted escape them by driving off, dragging a male officer about 60 metres. He was eventually arrested and taken to hospital for a drug and alcohol test. On Monday, police allege they detected the man driving again on Dunheved Road at Werrington.
The officers did not catch the suspect at the time but after an investigation, tracked him to a motel in Minchinbury yesterday, where they said he was hiding in a ''roof cavity''.
During a search of the motel room police seized items suspected of being stolen during numerous alleged break and enters in the St Marys area in recent months.
