On the night of 31 July 2011, several of us went up on the Kabuki Co-op South Building roof to see the Natal Day fireworks. Natal Day is a Canadian holiday for the celebration of the respective foundings of Canadian cities. In this case, it was in celebration of the separate foundings of the "Twin Cities" of Halifax and Dartmouth. Access to the roof was through the skylight in Steve's apartment. For the first time in about 6 years the fireworks were launched from the MacDonald Bridge (aka "The Old Bridge"), not far from us. They were not only closer but they were more elevated and elaborate than the previous Canada Day ones, which were set off from a barge in the Harbor and further away. It was a spectacular display and our reactions are very evident. The explosions and the reverberations were much louder than they seem in the movie. Lots of fun!! "Shock & Awe"!!
