KARNIVAL KALEIDOSCOPE (featuring Midnight Syndicate's Carnival Arcane CD)
THIS VIDEO IS STRICTLY FOR ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES FOR THE YOUTUBE AUDIENCE. NO MONETARY GAIN IS INTENDED.
*** I recommend watching this video if you have an hour to spare late at night, as it's a long one ***
This video is mostly about capturing the full spectrum and spirit of carnivals, the circus, clowns, and amusement parks, thus the title "Karnival Kaleidoscope". Though not every track depicts it, there is a basic underlying dark carnival/Halloween theme throughout the video. This video is basically a mixture of the fun and innocent side of carnivals, circuses, and clowns,as well as the dark side. I tried to maintain a cohesive, consistent, uninterrupted carnival/circus/clown theme and atmosphere throughout the video so it plays somewhat like a movie, but at the same time, the individual song videos do have their own identities to a certain extent, especially during the first half of the video, thus validating the "kaleidoscope" and "change" and "variety" aspect of the video. This video presents things on both a smaller scale (carnivals and the circus) as well as a grand scale (amusement parks). My inspiration to make this video is the dark carnival concept of Midnight Syndicate's 2011 album "Carnival Arcane". This video, for the most part, is based on this album. Filming for this video began on October 7, 2011 and the final scenes were filmed on October 7, 2012.

The footage and still images used in this video were filmed with seven different camcorders, two cell phone camcorders, an 8 mm home movie camera, a 35 mm camera, and a 110 camera, so the picture quality varies scene to scene and the aspect ratio goes back and forth between full screen and widescreen.

Some of the still images of clown props used for the funhouse tracks "Cheval Glass" and "Lights Out" were taken from the Batman television series on ABC, specifically the episodes "The Joker Is Wild" and "Batman Is Riled". I give complete and full credit to the ABC Television Network. Other clown props used in "Cheval Glass" were from the CarnEvil attraction at HalloWeekends at Cedar Point - October 15, 2011. I also used some of my own props as well as props from a neighborhood haunted house for these tracks as well as in "Diversions In The Dark".

Photographs used in "Freakshow" were taken from pinterest.com and phreeque.com, the latter a website created by Elizabeth J. Anderson. The whole subject of humans with deformities is a sensitive subject. I felt that I needed to include some pictures of such people in the tracks "Midway" and "Freakshow", because after all, many of these people appeared in the circuses of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries for profit. This is just a fact and my video reflects this reality. The so-called "freakshow" or "sideshow" of yesteryear is long gone, but the reality is that such shows did exist and they're part of history. The photographs used in "Alura The Snake Lady" are from pinterest.com. That website saved the day and I give huge credit to it. Sadly, snake ladies at carnivals are pretty much a thing of the past, so I needed SOME images for the song. I even did a cheap snake lady animation myself. It seems that snake ladies only appear in places like Las Vegas, etc. I tried the Ohio State Fair, but no snake lady was to be found. The Michigan State Fair? It was shut down after the 2009 fair after 161 years of existence. The photographs used in "Alura The Snake Lady" represent my tribute to all snake ladies everywhere, both past and present, for their courage, daring, and highly entertaining acts. The very last clip of "Freakshow" is the ghoul from Carnival of Souls (1962), played by Herk Harvey. It's my homage and tip of the hat to this cult classic B horror movie. The image of Haverghast Asylum is from Midnight Syndicate's 2001 album "Gates Of Delirium".
