Vancouver Island hiking along the trail to the summit of Kings Peak in Strathcona Park, BC. This was more of trial run testing out gear and endurance, than an attempt to summit. We specifically wanted to try out crampons and ice axes, and refine our snow slope travelling techniques.
We each carried about 10 KG in 32-35 L packs, including avalanche gear (shovel, probe, beacon), along with crampons, ax, poles, food and clothing. Overkill considering the time of year, but it is good to see what you can do!
