On Wednesday, July 25, 2012, National Grid and NSTAR teamed up to host Boston's premier refrigerator Pop-Up Museum in Dewey Square Park. The event—encouraging Massachusetts residents to recycle their old, second refrigerators and freezers—featured a mobile display of retro refrigerators, guest speakers, an on-site radio presence, trivia contest and giveaways.
Massachusetts residents have the opportunity to take part in an appliance recycling program to save as much as $150 a year through lower energy usage. As part of the program, National Grid and NSTAR electric customers will also receive a $50 rebate for having their old, second units unplugged and hauled away.
