***Update! In recent months laws have changed and you no longer need to obtain a purchase permit from your local police department before purchasing a handgun. As before, you still need to give a copy of the sale (provided by the FFL) to your pd, whether in person or through the mail. This is good news for the non-CPL people because it makes the actual purchase much easier.
This video is a sort of vlog-type how-to video addressing the question: How exactly to purchase a handgun in Michigan. This follows my experience of buying my first handgun and how others should expect the process to take place. This is the process one would go through if they did not have their CPL.
