Although it's one of the most popular hamstring stretches out there, a lot goes into a well formed pike pose. It's beneficial and treacherous to beginners and flexible practitioners alike.

In this tutorial I'll attempt to touch on the pitfalls of this pose, suggest cues and explain the reason behind them.

Although I'm fairly flexible, I did my best to present everything in a range of motion which is more accessible to beginners, because these cues can help you regardless of you levels of flexibility.

Listen to your body, and don't stretch to the point of unbearable pain. Consult your Physician if you have any issues or concerns.
