When I tell you that Self Defense & Combatives training is at least 75% mental I am not kidding in the least! You can have the fancy techniques in the world, but if you are 100% mentally prepared to use them then you might as well have been doing water aerobics instead of "training".
I am not here to judge anyone, but listen to what the victim said. "I just decided I was going to take it". The is not the mindset of someone who has decided to not allowed herself, or her family, to become a victim and a statistic!
I had someone else say "He was enjoying beating her too much, if she had fought back he would have killed her". My feelings on this...The ONLY reason she wasn't killed is because she was LUCKY. Any one of the punches or kicks to the face could have killed her if he had hit her just right, or she had fallen down in the wrong spot and struck her head on the table or floor.
Again I am not here to judge her. I think it is safe to say that she had little or no training and she did only what she could think to do, and luckily she survived.
However, it is situations like this is a huge part of the reason I harp on my people in training about being mentally prepared. It is imperative to harden your mind to be able to face a violent attack and still be able to function effectively in the midst of the chaos. Your life, and the lives of your children, may hang in the balance if you just allow it to happen while hoping he doesn't kill you.
I am not one to rely on "hope". I rely on myself to handle any situations that arise...come good times or bad. If you rely on hope, I hope it works out for you and your luck holds up, but for me I plan on fighting my way forward through life until the day I am no longer here on earth. So I will continue to prepare my mind and body and those of the people who have what it takes to train with me.
