First of all, the Soeks is not really known as an accurate meter.  Get a Gamma Scout if you want a calibrated and certified counter.  Secondly, don't measure it right off your (presumably) ceramic floor tiles.  I've seen my Gamma Scout hit as high as 1,500 CPM off a stack of ceramic floor tiles.

I just ordered this meter, I like the features but what is the accuracy of it in a +/- percent? In just using it to find radioactive elements in nature and to test my ore samples so I think it'll be fine for me since I don't need super accurate readings for what I'll be doing since it isn't for science or to check such a minor change in back ground radiation. Still interesting to learn more technical specs of it lol

Completely, utterly, boringly NORMAL!!!!

Gamma dose rate <.30 Msv/h and Gamma dose <.007 Msv per 24h is natural and safe radiation in earth. So many things around are radioactive and people love it like granite and sand both has uranium traces.

over 23 is suggesting something

One thing I would like to know though, is what that red flashing thing is that's reflecting off of your meter.

Holy cow! I almost fell off my chair! What they say is right. The Fukushima radiation is definitely hitting the West very high! I almost flipped when I realized I was getting 0.12 to 0.23 or so when this was held under my computer in Calgary Alberta, especially when it said the accumulated background dosage in 8 hours was 1 uSv. My gosh, it must be terrifying getting a reading like that! I hope others also post their cities and readings. This posting was Nov 6, 2013. Thanks!

its not fukushima,it's normal "low" level background. rain or any upper level reading will be higher. if you really knew just how low .31 usv/h is you would be disappointed by the readings. even 100.00 usv/h is piddly for yor health

a stone floor WILL offset your readings.

Since it takes readings in Hourly counts ,try one hour. But that's me . i suggest contacting Soeks for all questions on their products. I 'm not doing any sales for them.

could you please explain quickly hows the Soeks Defender cumulative dose function works e.g. can you take total dose for 20minutes?
