Franklin D. Gilliam Jr., associate vice chancellor for community partnerships and professor of political science, discusses UCLA's participation in the United Way Campaign.
The United Way of Greater Los Angeles works to improve the quality of life for all in Greater Los Angeles by creating pathways out of poverty. In its 10-year action plan, United Way plans to meet basic needs such as food, shelter and health care; to improve educational achievement among youths; and to help families find the opportunities and skills they need to become financially stable.
